Article : Good Evening Friday Management TASK 258- Technology seeping into HR functional vertical making it as an essential functional vertical for business decisions which once was known to be a paper-intensive and non-innovative.

M/S Ashoka cycle is a 60 years old company and one of the large manufacturers of cycles. Mr. Ravi Shukla has joined Ashok cycles as HR executive and rose to the level as Chief HRM. He has put in 30 years of working experience with the company which has 1000 employees on their roles in different job verticals. Maintaining healthy and caring employee - employer relations and supported by good market share M/s Ashok has been gaining profits keeping the stake holders happy.

Being an established company M/s Ashoka is still sailing with the founder’s philosophy following traditional working systems, though the office is modernized with automation. With the changing times and advancement of technology, many of the industries are moved on to technology based applications for shop floor as well as other wings of operations. With an aspiration to be on evolution path Mr Ravi has discussed with the management on the need of technology support for further business growth and workmen engagement. On his part he explained how technology is impacting the world we live in and did mention that traditionally HR was always viewed as a paper-intensive, non-innovative area, where salary decisions are made, people get hired or fired and team building sessions are organized. But behind the scenes, the industry is changing and incorporating technology at a rapid pace, even if it wasn’t designed for HR to start with.

He stressed that every organization identifies employee engagement, talent retention, competitive compensation, and development of organizational leaders for tomorrow as major human capital challenges. So as an evolutionary part he expressed that M/s Ashoka should also think on this aspect of technology adoption. After Two weeks of time Ashok Cycles Management met the heads of HR, Sales Marketing, Finance, Production and Logistics to take their views on technology embracement for Ashoka Cycle Manufacturers. Individually every Manger has expressed the need and benefits of technology to further improve quality, launch new cycle designs for introducing of new models in market thereby enhancing market sales. In one word technology helps simplifying of work and offer better results in return.

Ashoka cycles Management has agreed in principle to switch to suitable technology adaptation provided it is cost effective. This process to transform into digitalized technology task is given to Mr. Ravi Shukla. Ravi Shukla has approached Sriram technologies to provide customized HR solutions to M/s Ashok cycles and in next 3 months of time Sriram Ram technologies have offered them a HR techno platform with mobile apps for a speedier real time information and analytics connecting all departments.
